“Details vanish in the bird’s-eye view; but so does the bird’s-eye view vanish in the details”

BRENDANS RESTAURANT RENOVATION, NYC: Brendan’s Restaurant opened in 2002 after an extensive renovation which exposed its original architectural details. Built within the site of the Georgian Hotel of the early 1900’s, plaster Corinthian columns were exposed as well as detailed plaster decorations on all of the 20 foot ceilings. Stained glass windows formerly covered by sheet rock and fluorescent dropped ceiling panels were revealed. Credit goes both to the owner and designer for undertaking such an immense project and bringing the past and the present together to refurbish this grand space to a thriving restaurant just steps away from Madison Square Garden.

NORTH SHORE VISION – RETAIL STORE DESIGN, Port Washington, NY: Upon moving to a new location, this store owner decided to bring an upscale product and interior design to their new retail space. New cabinetry includes contemporary zebra wood veneer, dark countertops with clear glass doors and interior shelving, all lit from above. The back of the cabinets are in a Harlequin pattern, painted in a bronze faux finish, light to dark in a continuous line around the showroom.

An off center island with its three asymmetrical hanging pendant lights acts as a display case for new frames, as well as a seating area for clients.

O’REILLY’S OFF FIFTH – RESTAURANT INTERIOR DESIGN, NYC: This restaurant is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan just steps away from the Empire State Building. This renovation of a surly bar and grill long overdue for attention was aimed at the more youthful dinner guest. The colors of copper, deep plum and gold downstairs entertain the lunch and bar clientele, the downstairs cocktail area design is highlighted with a mural of the owners at other locations and scenes from St. Patrick’s Cathedral and New York City. Upstairs is a more upscale dining room area with metallic walls and Italian lighting where the evening group can relax and enjoy a fine continental dinner until late in the night.
